Indy Lights Vice-Champion, winning four races. Beaten to the Championship title just three laps from the end of the final race of the year when a back-marker put me in the wall while leading.

1988
Vice-Champion in the A.R.S. (forename of Indy Lights) Championship, winning three races.

1987
3rd place in the ARS Championship, driving for OPAR Racing. Won two races, ending the season a handful of points behind eventual Champion Didier Theys.

1985-86
Moved to the USA to follow a new career path. Won the South East Formula Ford Championship and shared a Ford Mustang with Wally Dallenbach Jr. in selected races, including the Daytona 24 Hours, and the Sebring 12 Hours.

1984
Sixth overall in the European Formula 3 Championship driving for Gary Anderson, who later designed Grand Prix cars for the Jordan and Jaguar F1 Teams. Also drove in US Super Vee and Formula Atlantic races.

1983
Fourth in the European Formula 3 Championship, driving for future F1 Team-Owner Eddie Jordan. Highlight was a podium 3rd place at Monte Carlo, in spite of first gear breaking prior to the standing start. The twisty Monaco track has two first-gear corners…

1982
Achieved a lifetime ambition of racing Formula One, for the Theodore Team, in five Grand Prix.
Won the British Formula 3 Championship, despite missing 5 races whilst driving F1.
Tested Niki Lauda's Marlboro McLaren Formula 1 car at Silverstone for 25 laps, recording the 3rd fastest lap ever around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, and bettering triple World Champion Lauda's time by nearly two seconds.

1981
Won the Marlboro World Cup driving Ayrton Senna's car, following his decision not to compete. European Formula Ford 2000 Champion and British Formula Ford 2000 Champion.

1980
First in over twenty races en route to claiming the two most prestigious British Formula Ford Championships.

1979
1st place at the 14-mile Nurburgring circuit, plus pole position and fastest lap on debut at the most daunting track in Europe.
